Our Learning Your Job Course Is Out!
Starting a new job can be exciting, but onboarding is often one of the most intimidating parts of the experience.
Why This Course Matters
A lot of people assume learning a job is just about picking up tasks. That is true in the most limited sense, but it misses the bigger picture.
A new role is not just a list of assignments, it’s a set of responsibilities. You’re not just writing a report or completing a checklist, you are contributing to a team and supporting larger goals. Understanding that bigger purpose is one of the first real challenges of onboarding.
We see this course as an important starting point. It gives learners the mindset and techniques they need to step into a role with confidence. It’s an opportunity to not just to settle in, but to stand out.
Starting With the Right Mindset
The first unit focuses on understanding the challenge of learning a new job and how to approach it effectively.
You are not just memorizing tasks or trying to survive your first week. You are taking ownership of a role. That requires a mindset that is curious, engaged, and proactive from the start.
Making the Most of What You’re Given
The second unit begins with the obvious materials you’re given.
New hires should read everything they can find related to their role, but they should do it intelligently. Start by skimming for key deadlines, important expectations, and practical guidance. Think about what you need to get done today versus what can wait until next week.
Of course, existing material will not answer every question. That’s part of the point. The next unit will build on this by helping learners identify what is missing and figure out how to fill those gaps.
Putting It Into Practice
Like our other courses, Learning Your Job does not stop at theory. Learners get to practice these skills in a realistic scenario.
Our first roleplaying scene gives users the chance to meet with a colleague and ask questions about their new workplace. Asking about a dress code is simple, but it can feel surprisingly intimidating on your first day. The scene helps learners practice getting past that early discomfort.
What Comes Next
This course is part of our broader roadmap to build a more holistic training library.
Learning Your Job and Workplace Professionalism, which we launched last week, are a strong starting point for anyone settling into a new role. In the coming weeks, we will continue building out that professional journey with more courses designed to help learners navigate the workplace with confidence.
We also have more coming soon for Learning Your Job itself. In the next couple of weeks, we will release the third unit, which focuses on going beyond existing material and proactively identifying what may be missing. That release will also include helpful new roleplaying scenes.
