Language is only one way that people understand the world.
We interpret colors, symbols, actions, relationships, context, and consequences constantly, usually without thinking about it. Semiotics is the study of how those signs create meaning.
That distinction becomes interesting when designing AI systems. Large language models are extremely capable at processing language, but useful software can also give that language structure, context, and consequences.
Our CEO, Sayre Blake, will be exploring that idea at the AI Practitioners Summit later this month, including what semiotics might tell us about where AI systems go next.
Register today for free, and attend Sayre’s session to get access to a special Q&A session after the talk (details during the event).
